The Fear of Fear Itself

Preference:
Saxbe, D. (2005,Nov/Dec). The Fear of Fear Itself. Psychology Today. Last Retrieved Feb 18, 2009, from http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/pto-3930.html

Summary:
In this article, “The Fear of Fear Itself,” the author discusses that most of the people around the world feel sometimes, as if they couldn’t breathe well with fast heartbeat. They usually thought that it is a panic attack, but that as not the truth. Panic attack is a sudden feeling such as fast heart beat, nausea and vertigo. It is different from person to person. Panic happens because there is a problem in the brain. Also, the person is under stress. Some of them have a family history. So, they should get a doctor’s diagnosis and start with medical therapy, or cognitive-behavioral therapy, and work with themselves to cope with it.

Reaction:
Because my major is Psychology, I have a good experience with panic attacks. Most of the people when they came to my clinic thought they would die, and they were very anxious. I started with them to understand what panic attacks were, and what they were feeling? We need to work a lot to change their opinion about what they are feeling. Also, I usually work with psychiatry because they need anti depressants.

When I was a junior, my uncle was suffering with some panic symptoms and he thought it is a panic. He visited many heart doctors but all of them told him that it was nothing and his heart was good. I recommended that he to visit a psychiatrist and after that he knew what had happened and felt better.

I agree with this article that people who suffer from panic should fight depression with cognitive- behavior therapy. Some of them have bad ideas about medicine. But we can work with them to change it as much as possible. Also, people who follow our rules usually finished with these symptoms and they can live with no anxiety anymore.

Valentine's Day.

In my country, we didn’t celebrate in Valentine’s Day in the past because it is not a Saudi culture, so I had never celebrated when I was child. But the last ten years some of Saudi guys start to celebrate: give their lover or parents a nice gift. I received two wonderful cards from my kids and my friend who lives in Boston sanded flowers to me. Every thing was surprised to me because I didn’t expect that I would get something in this day. I was so happy and called my friend to say thanks for her feeling. Then, I took my kids to got lunch out side and enjoyed with them. It was a wonderful day and I will never forget it.

Blueprints for the Disorganized Child

Preference:

Carrera M. (2005,Oct.18). Blueprints for the Disorganized Child. Psychology Today Last Retrieved Feb 4, 2009, from http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/pto-3907.html.

Summary:

In this article, “Blueprints for the Disorganized Child” the author discusses how parents are suffering with their disorganized kids. She gave an example of parent who her kid is very unordered and his back bag usually is dirty. She tried a lot to teach him how make it and everything he uses is clean, but he couldn’t understand and still does everything with aimless nature. Then the writer gave some keys to help us discover whethere our kids have this problem. Also she gave us some ways to help them to be more organized.

Reaction:

Because my major is psychology, I discuss this situation with a lot of parents, and I see how they are suffering with them especially when they are very organized people and tried many ways to change their kids’ customs. My advice to them was: talk with them as a friend, make a series of deals, then use a punishment and reward technique. Try to be a good model for them, so change yourself first. Some parents could not succeed to change their kids randomness because they lost their patience.

I agree with the author’s Idea that kids need their parents’ support, and they should try to pass this problem. In my experience with my kids, they were so ordered when we were in Saudi Arabia. But they changed a little bit while we came to America. I thought a lot about why that happened, then I found that because I am so busy, so sometimes I couldn’t care about everything they did such as their backbag or their room, but they are still good boys; they understand that is very bad, so they try a lot to be more organized

My Hometown

My hometown is the second Islamic city on the world. Its name is Almadinah. It has a prophet Mohammad Mosque that is what all the Muslims around the world want to visit it and pray in this mosque. Prophet Mohammad Mosque is able to capacitance more than tow millions prayer on the same time. Also, it has a wonderful architectural design from inside and outside, also it has ten towers, it calls”Manarah” and green dome. Underneath this mousq, there is a huge conditioner system. I hope all American people know about it and I think if any American sees pictures or reads more about my hometown he/she will surprised because most of American people hadn’t been know about it ,also they have wrong information about Islam and Islamic city .They think it is a lagging city, but this is wrong ,it is so modern and renewd city.
